When we say smart foods for a healthy brain, it means foods that fuels our brain’s functioning. It’s no news to us that food is an important component for a healthy living. Without food, we cannot survive. Food does a lot of  good to our body.

A study revealed that diet constitutes 80% of our healthy living. However, out of these foods, there are some foods that specifically function to boost our brain’s ability. Some foods works perfectly for the body, and others for the brain.

Also, another study revealed that people with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There are certain smart foods that fuels their concentration and help focus attention on some specific tasks.

However, in this post, we will list some of these smart foods for a healthy brain. Take note that, when it comes to consumption of foods, moderation is a key factor. Therefore, you will have to consume these foods moderately.

List of Some Smart Foods For A Healthy Brain

There are number of smart foods that works perfectly to boost brain functions. These foods are categorized into sugars, grains, nuts, proteins, etc. However, the following foods are smart foods for a healthy brain:

1. Glucose

The first smart food for a healthy brain on the list is glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar, and there’s glucose naturally in oranges. Therefore, the glucose you get from an orange juice can boost your brain function.

However, you should consume it moderately, because excess of glucose in the body is dangerous.

2. Proteins

Proteins like fish and dairy products are examples of smart foods for a healthy brain. Fish contains a vital component called omega-3 fatty acids. This component is very vital to brain health.

Moreover, any diet that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids helps prevent stroke, dementia, and memory loss. Globulin as the protein source in milk also help improve concentration and memory.

3. Nuts and seeds

Another smart food for a healthy brain on the list is nuts and seeds. Nuts and seeds are rich in Vitamin E, which helps prevent memory loss that may come with age. Older people tend to experience depreciation in memory due to old age.

However, including nuts and seeds in our diet may help reduce the risk of loss of memory.

4. Dark chocolate

Dark chocolate contains antioxidant properties that mobilize concentration and focus. Its function is similar to that of caffeine, and you should take it moderately. Dark chocolate can boost concentration by making you work all through the day.

 However, excess intake of dark chocolate may leave you anxious.

5. Avocado and whole grains

The last smart food for a healthy brain on the list is whole grains and fruits. Apart from the fact that whole grain is good for the body, it is good for the brain as well. Foods that contain whole grains and fruits like avocados help our body reduce high cholesterol levels.

These particular foods increases the blood flow, thereby giving our brain maximum oxygen to keep functioning well.

The most important part of our body is the brain, and our system cannot function properly if damaged. However, to reduce the risk of brain damage, memory loss, and so on, there are some measures to take. One of these measures is to be eating foods that can boost our brain functions.
